#007: rest, rhythms and in-betweens
the mid year slump is upon us, we reject it.
Life moves fast, until it doesn’t. Then suddenly, everything feels jumbled. January feels miles away, and December even further. This is the in-between month. A true reflection of the days we try, the days we show up, and the days we simply hope the future still belongs to us.
AI: no news, just rest.
WWDC, Google I/O, and Microsoft Build all just wrapped. It’s been a whirlwind of announcements. And honestly? Now feels like the perfect time to pause. To rest. To let it all sink in before diving back in. If you need a recap, I recommend catching up via the Waveform podcast or the Microsoft Developer YouTube channel.
Still trying to build that MCP server 🤞
What else, because there’s always something else:
3 talks down, Write the Docs Kenya, MS Tech Summit, and the Data Science Summit. 2 more to go AgentCon Chennai, and AgentCon Mumbai,
We launched the new JS AI Build-a-thon — AI for JavaScript developers. It’s been beautiful seeing devs rally around it and build.
Still iterating on my demos, especially the Foundry Local project.
A new season of Model Mondays is here, and I’ll be hosting a few episodes!
Built a personal portfolio using GitHub Agent Mode, because why not?
The In-Betweens
Today (or yesterday, depending on when this goes live) has been heavy, especially here in Kenya. It’s been a season of resistance, reflection, and resilience. And it seems like the pattern will continue for a while longer. Holding on to hope for brighter days.
Here’s what’s up:
Hobby: Returned to hiking (kind of). After a long break, it feels good to be outside again.
Podcast: I’ve added Behind You to my true crime rotation. Let’s not talk about how many episodes I’ve binged.
Show: trying to find an anime that ticks my fancy. Got some recommendations?
Fiction: I’ve just finished another Ali Hazelwood book, loving how she writes academic chaos.
Non-fiction: Finished reading Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams, I struggled completing the book. In memoirs, you are the one crafting your story, and you can be a hero if you want to!
Experiences: It’s been about 2 weeks of consistently going to the gym, decided to sleep in today, all I can say is tomorrow, I have to go back.
That’s it for the in-betweens. 💫
Beauty in the Mundane
My theme for the year is Beauty.
And one thing I’ve appreciated this past week? Waking up to my cats! Soft, present joy.
Thank you dear reader,
